arriving home

Even though we arrived at midnight, friends were in Burlington to welcome us. Jane, Joplin’s mom, came, and when we got home, we found a baked macaroni and cheese and apple crisp – McKinley’s request. We were home, and everything here was more lovely than we’d remembered. The colors are bright and clean, the house is safe and warm, the friends are loyal and full of laughter.

It is to be our challenge to slip back into this life here and yet retain the great shifts of character and consciousness that happened while we were away. It is still too tender to phone Taiwan and chat with friends there. We would like so much to be in two places, but we have to let go, and let what must be, be. We are home.
